Importance of Power Sector Privatization Highlighted

According to "Tehran Times", deputy managing director of TAVANIR Company stated that since power industry needed hefty investments, privatization in the sector was a necessity.

Masoud Hojjat noted that electricity industry needs heavy investments and its current growth does not match the country's needs.

Hojjat noted that involvement of the private sector in power generation would lower cost price of electricity in future.

Capacity of active power plants in Iran adds up to about 33,000 MW and Energy Ministry is planning to boost it to 60,000 MW in 10 years.
