Utah Passes Tax Exemption for RE Costs
March 9, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] Utah's state legislature passed S.B. 19 Sales and Use Taxes - Exemption for Energy Related Equipment and Machinery (Sen. L. Blackham) This bill amends the Sales and Use Tax Act to provide an exemption for certain energy related machinery or equipment. The bill: provides an exemption for certain machinery or equipment used to make new or expanding renewable production facilities operational; provides an exemption for certain machinery or equipment used to make new or expanding waste energy facilities operational; provides an exemption for machinery or equipment installed on new or expanding facilities that produce fuel from biomass energy.
