Overview:
Today the U.S. has more than 9,000 MW of
wind generating capacity. According to the American Wind Energy
Association, wind power has expanded at an average 28% annually over the
past five years in the United States. In 2005, the wind industry installed
over 2,400 megawatts or $3 billion worth of new generating equipment in 20
states. The wind community has set a target of 350 GW of wind electric
capacity installed in the U.S. by 2020.
However, in spite of all of the progress
that has been made, there are still significant policy, transmission, and
market challenges. The Wind Energy & Power Markets Conference will focus
precisely on these issues. The conference will address:
The development of wind energy power markets
How wind energy can deliver real value to utilities and to end users
Wind energy economics
Transmission interconnection issues
The impact of RTO?s
Project financing and risk management
Streamlining environmental assessment and permitting process
