DaimlerChrysler aims to sell 250,000 flexible-fuel vehicles in ´07
April 25 --
DaimlerChrysler Corp. expects to sell at least
250,000 flexible-fuel vehicles for the 2007 model year and just about
double that number for 2008.
Both the Jeep Commander and Jeep Grand Cherokee will have new models
that operate on ethanol fuel for 2007, the company said.
"A significant part of the solution to our energy, environment and
national security issues can be homegrown," said Tom LaSorda, president
and CEO of the company´s Chrysler Group.
About 1.5 million Chrysler Group vehicles capable of using flexible
fuel are already on the road. That figure represents about 10 percent of
all vehicles sold by the company since 1998.
Other nameplates available with flexible-fuel capability include the
Chrysler Sebring sedan and convertible, Dodge Dakota and Dodge Ram
pickups, and Dodge Durango SUV, the company said. The Dodge Caravan and
Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country minivans will be available
for fleet customers.
