DaimlerChrysler unveils fuel cell powered cop car
 
April 10 -- DaimlerChrysler Corp. has introduced the worldīs first fuel cell powered police car, which will be used by the Wayne State University Police Department in Detroit.

The zero-emission vehicle will serve as a supervisorīs car and will be used on campus and in the immediate vicinity, the car company said.

"This event exhibits how DaimlerChrysler is taking on the challenge for industries and governments to create viable alternative-fuel solutions," said Mark Chernoby, vice president of advance vehicle engineering for Chrysler Group.

The company now has more than 100 fuel-cell vehicles on the road.

The vehicle will refuel at a NextEnergy hydrogen fueling station and serve as a learning laboratory for students in WSU College of Engineering Alternative Energy Technology.
