EPCOR today welcomed Ontario Minister of Energy Donna Cansfield to celebrate the start-up of operations at its Kingsbridge I Wind Power Project. The project is now complete, ahead of its June 30 deadline, with all 22 turbines in the 40 megawatt project generating electricity to Ontario's electrical grid.

Located in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Kingsbridge I was selected in the Province of Ontario's first renewable energy competition in 2004. The Kingsbridge I Wind Power Project can produce power for approximately 12,000 homes (annual average), and will contribute approximately 109,000 megawatt hours of renewable power annually.

"We're pleased to be helping the province to meet the energy needs of Ontarians," said EPCOR Sr. Vice President Paul McMillan. "We want to thank the community for their support in getting Kingsbridge I completed ahead of schedule, and for helping us get the next phase of the project started."

"Our government is building a new energy future and clean renewable energy will be a key part of Ontario's energy supply mix," Minister Cansfield said. "I want to congratulate EPCOR for their contribution to Ontario's economy and environment."

Kingsbridge I will be followed by Kingsbridge II. In November 2005, EPCOR entered into a Power Purchase Agreement for the sale of power from the 160 megawatt Kingsbridge II Wind Power Project with the Ontario Power Authority. Pending regulatory and other approvals, Kingsbridge II is expected to consist of 69 wind turbines and will be constructed north of Kingsbridge I in the township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.

Kingsbridge I and II will add approximately 200 MW to Canada's wind power capacity, providing power for more than 60,000 homes. As of January 2006, Canada had a total installed wind power capacity of 683 MW.

Kingsbridge I joins EPCOR's renewable generation portfolio of power generated from the wind, water, landfill gas and the sun. With the addition of Kingsbridge I, EPCOR operates approximately 311 MW of power generation capacity from renewable sources. This includes small hydro facilities in British Columbia, Alberta and New York State; biomass-fueled facilities in BC and Ontario; and a landfill gas-fired generation facility in Alberta. A rooftop solar installation helps power the company's head office in Edmonton.
