Firms breaking ground for wind farm

Apr 19, 2006 - Duluth News-Tribune, Minn.

Apr. 19--FPL Energy and Minnesota Power are breaking ground this afternoon on what is expected to become the largest wind farm in North Dakota.

FPL will own the 50-megawatt development to be built in Oliver County, N.D., northwest of Bismarck, and will sell the output to Minnesota Power. The facility should begin operations by late 2006.

Minnesota Power has indicated it also plans to work with a developer to build a similar-sized wind farm on the Iron Range in the future, but the site for that project has not yet been named.
