April 7 -- Five Syracuse, N.Y., schools have
joined a national effort to take a comprehensive approach to reducing
their environmental footprint.
The schools -- Seymour Magnet School, Solace Elementary, H.W. Smith
Elementary, Lincoln Middle and Nottingham High -- have joined the Go
Green Initiative, which adopts recycling education into their
curriculum.
The grass-roots initiative brings together parents, teachers and
students to create a culture of conservation in schools. It gives
schools checklists to look at everything from recycling to pesticides
used on playgrounds.
