THE offshore wind industry could generate six per cent of the UK's electricity needs by 2015 if it gets more Government support, a study claims.

 

The British Wind Energy Association and Renewables East report called for the "economic gap" to be closed.

 

BWEA chief executive Marcus Rand said: "This research identifies the potential of offshore wind to deliver significant quantities of secure carbon-free power."
