Organics Go Mainstream in the UK

British newspaper, the Observer, gave Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association their Hall of Fame award as part of its Annual Food Awards. This is in recognition of his tireless campaign "in support of organic food and farming, building public awareness and influencing government and industry alike." The Soil Association is celebrating its sixtieth year with about 4,000 businesses now adhering to its criteria and 44,000 products carry its symbol, plus 300 schools developing nutritional lunches. Since starting in 1988, Holden has built the association by focusing on the development of an infrastructure, and production capacity.
