The last phase of testing has begun at the liquid nuclear waste procession complex at the Kola peninsula nuclear power plant.

Experts from Germany's RWE Nukem Gmbh have arrived at the plant to conduct test launches of the nuclear waste handling and concentration units, head of the procession unit Mikhail Stakhiva told Interfax.

"Previous individual tests indicated that there was an error in the equipment's software, the notes and complaints were passed to Germany so that they could eliminate the defect and the software was re-installed after the update," he said.

All the mechanisms in the complex will be checked during the tests, Stakhiva said. After the tests have been completed, the complex will begin its work.

The launch of the processing unit was previously planned for December 2005.
