Gazprom to establish US-based subsidiary in Houston

Gazprom is to create a US-based subsidiary to handle its liquefied
natural gas and natural gas marketing in the US, the Russian gas giant said.

Gazprom Marketing and Trading USA, a division of UK-based Gazprom
Marketing and Trading Ltd., will be based in Houston and will "contribute to
expanding the group's presence in the USA on a long-term basis," Gazprom said.

John Hattenberger, previously LNG Director for Gazprom M&T, will assume
the role of managing director at the US subsidiary. Prior to that, he served
as senior vice president at Marathon Oil, handling LNG business development.

Gazprom currently imports LNG to Dominion's Cove Point, Maryland, LNG
terminal through agreements with BG Group and Shell. The company--which is
poised to receive from the Russian parliament the exclusive right to export
Russian gas--is also in talks with Petro-Canada about supplying LNG to
Petro-Canada's proposed import terminal in Quebec.
