- said Bob Malone, president of BP America, the company's US operating subsidiary as BP said Sunday it is shutting down the US's biggest oil field, Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope of Alaska, after discovering "severe" corrosion and a new spill in pipelines carrying crude from the eastern part of the field.

The draft resolution, sponsored by permanent council members France and the United States, is "incapable of solving the crisis since it is one-sided."
- Iran's top security official, Ali Larijani, told reporters on Sunday. Iran, a supporter of Hezbollah, dismissed as one-sided a draft UN Security Council resolution calling for an end to fighting in Lebanon between the Shi'ite Muslim guerrillas and Israel.

"We are making headway. The Police Headquarters will brief the press on this by 12 noon (13GMT) later today."
