Ore. university, wireless company team up to recycle cell phones

Oregon Health & Science University has partnered with a local wireless phone company to provide collection and recycling services for old cell phones.

The university will accept used phones, personal digital assistants and accessories from staff, patients and community members around the campus. Milwaukie, Ore.-based Legacy Wireless Services Inc. will refurbish and reuse the functioning phones and ensure that unusable batteries and handsets are recycled.

The partners will donate the proceeds from resold phones to Doernbecher Childrenīs Hospital in Portland, Ore.
