FirstEnergy signs 23-year, 80-MW deal with Pennsylvania

FirstEnergy has signed a 23-year deal to buy 80 MW of wind power from the
Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm, a project being developed near Altoona,
Pennsylvania, by Gamesa Energy USA, a unit of Spain's Gamesa Group, the Akron,
Ohio-based company said Monday.
Phase one of the Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm site, which is located in
parts of Cambria and Blair counties in Pennsylvania, is expected to have 40
turbines with a capacity of 2 MW each, and is scheduled to be operational by
early 2007, FirstEnergy said.
A FirstEnergy spokesman declined to say how much the company would pay
for the power from the Allegheny Ridge wind farm.
