Germany's StW Hannover to build

1,100MW hard coal plant with E.ON

Freiburg (Platts)--17Mar2006

Germany's Stadtwerke Hannover is to build a 1,100 MW hard coal power
plant together with energy giant E.ON, the municipal supplier said.
The Hannover-based utility will hold a 25.2% slice in the power plant, or
265 MW. The unit is expected to come online in the next decade, said StW
Hannover, adding the unit would have an efficiency of more than 45%. Hannover,
which already produces about 4TWh annually in its own power plants, on
Thursday reported a net income of Eur87.5 million ($105 million) for the year
2005, a rise of 14% on 2004. The company said marketing of spare power plant
capacities as well as internal efficiency were the main reasons for the
positive result. Last year, the company had a turnover of Eur1.75 billion, a
rise of 28.6%. Trading volume within the company rose by 36% to 18,265 GWh of
power. Gas trade volume trebled in the period under review to 7,046 GWh.
