Habitat for Humanity says it has recycled 12 million lbs. of aluminum since ´97

March 22 -- Habitat for Humanity has recycled more than 12 million pounds of aluminum since 1997, raising $4.4 million to construct 95 homes, the group said.

That includes recycling 700,000 pounds of aluminum last year to raise about $380,000. That´s a 25 percent increase from 2004.

"Our outstanding Cans for Habitat affiliates continue to raise the bar with their accomplishments each year," said Patrick Kelly, program director for Cans for Habitat. "Thanks to these amazing affiliates, the aluminum industry remains proud to support its partner, Habitat for Humanity, through the Cans for Habitat program."
