Russia's exports of oil and natural gas in January grew by 8 % and 5 % year
on year, respectively, the country's customs agency said.
Natural gas exports in the first month of this year stood at 18.7 bn cm, with
oil exports at 17.2 mm tons (126 mm barrels) in the same period.
Exports -- excluding to those to members of the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS) -- increased by 6 % to 16 bn cm. The figure for the CIS, which
includes all former Soviet republics apart from the Baltic states, was unchanged
at 2.7 bn cm.
Oil exports to non-CIS countries grew by 14.5 % to 16.4 mm tons (120 mm
barrels), while sales to the CIS members shrank by 50 % to 825,000 tons (about 6
mm barrels).
Revenues from natural gas sales grew by 63 % in January, reaching $ 4.221 bn,
while revenues from oil exports aggregated $ 6.72 bn, a 73.6 % increase on last
year.
Russia's exports of oil products in January grew by 22 %, to 7.04 mm tons.
Figures for the growth of oil products exports were even more impressive,
reaching $ 2.72 bn, a 74.3 % increase on last year.
