Wind
association asks U.S. to expedite permitting of offshore projects
March 6The American Wind Energy Association
is urging the federal government to ease the permit review process for
offshore wind projects.
The group filed comments with the Minerals Management Service, an arm
of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Feb. 28. The agency regulates
offshore wind energy development on the Outer Continental Shelf.
Blanket restrictions or red tape could stymie offshore wind energy
development, according to the AWEA´s comments. The Minerals Management
Service needs to formulate a development program that does not delay or
impede the permitting of offshore wind energy projects, the AWEA said.
