MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Xcel
Energy is now ranked as the nation's largest buyer of wind
energy. |
The Minneapolis-based utility edged Southern California Edison
in rankings from the American Wind Energy Association.
The group says it's the first time in the recent history of the
wind energy industry in the United States that Southern California
Edison has been overtaken as the largest purchaser of wind energy.
Xcel operates in Colorado, Texas and Minnesota.
The company was buying one-thousand-48 megawatts of wind energy
at the end of 2005.
Southern California Edison came up with 21 megawatts less.
