Vote Solar Friends-
By now, most of you have heard about ‘An
Inconvenient Truth', the documentary on Al Gore's talks on global warming that
opened in NY and LA today. Read on for a chance to see it for free.
If the idea of a documentary, based on a slide show, on the subject of carbon emissions, given by famed orator Al Gore seems a little--how to put this--on the dry side, well, think again. It's engaging. It's informative. And it's terrifying. No one will leave the theater without serious concerns over the future of the planet.
The key is to turn that terror into momentum for effective change-a point that the movie's producers understand. At the end of the film, before the credits scroll, moviegoers see a screen to the effect of:
"Scared? You should be. To take action and fight global warming, go to www.climatecrisis.net"
And one of the options for taking action is a collaborative initiative that we are building with several partners called Solar Nation.
Go ahead, check it out--click on www.climatecrisis.net, then 'Take Action', then 'Become Active'. Our link is down at the bottom.
We are hoping that this will help us build the ranks of solar warriors demanding a change of course. As we work with regulatory commissions in key states to implement pro-solar policies, a highly motivated and engaged public is a tremendous ally. Solar Nation is an umbrella collaboration to bring new voices to the cause.
To help strengthen the link between the issues the movie raises and the policy solutions at hand, we are also putting together an all-star panel of enviro luminaries to address the press and VIPs at the conclusion of Paramount's San Francisco premiere on June 1.
Unfortunately, we couldn't even get our mothers tickets for the red carpet treatment. Here's the next best thing: we've got 25 tickets for the June 2 opening at the Cal Theater in Berkeley (7 PM show). Invite your friends to join Solar Nation, cc us on the email, and the most creative pitches will win a pair of tickets. We'll join you for a beer afterwards. You'll need it.
And if you can't join us in Berkeley, better buy tickets soon, because they are already selling out.
