Ohio
waste authority receives OK to build landfill methanol plant

An Ohio solid waste agency has gotten its final
air permit for a proposed facility that will produce methanol and
compressed natural gas from its landfill.
The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio plans to build a plant to
produce some 20 million gallons of methanol per year, which will be used
to manufacture biodiesel fuel. The Green Energy Center also will us
landfill gas also generate 1.6 megawatts of electricity.
FirmGreen Fuels LLC, based in Newport Beach, Calif., will operate the
center and buy the gas from the solid waste authority.
