"The largest share of the increase in world oil demand
growth will come mainly from the developing world, mostly due to the strong
economic growth. However, the high oil prices and the removal of the fuel
subsidies are expected to negatively impact oil demand, especially in South-East
Asia."
- An OPEC report said as
OPEC cut its forecast for world oil demand growth this year on Wednesday, saying
that high prices were contributing to a slowdown in incremental demand in
developed countries.
"We accepted a suspension for two years. This was a
bitter experience for the Iranian people. The Iranians won't be bitten twice on
the same spot."
- Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the town of Arak on Wednesday,
categorically rejecting international demands for Tehran to return to a
suspension of sensitive uranium enrichment work. Iran's uranium enrichment
programme is at the centre of fears the regime could acquire nuclear weapons.
The country insists it only wants to produce civilian reactor fuel.
