siGEN have been testing the turbine on a house in the Langstracht
Aberdeen, the city’s only installed micro wind turbine, to much acclaim by
local neighbours who like the elegant product styling and low noise
impact. Many expressed surprise at the unobtrusiveness of the system.
The product will not compete directly with other products on the market
and will fit a high performance niche of the market. The inverter, in
which siGEN has been involved in the design, offers on grid and off grid
functionality not available with other systems. The system can be
configured to continue to operate should the grid fail (all G83 compliant
systems shut own in grid fail). It can also provide battery back up
support for extended power back up in the event of grid loss.
The systems will achieve CE certification by June and Clear skies
approval is in process. Off grid systems are available immediately and
grid configuration by July 2006. siGEN has already received their first
orders for the turbines during April and May.
