Tokyo (Platts)--13Sep2006

Earnings from Australia's minerals and energy exports rose by 32% year on
year to a record high of A$90 billion ($65.5 billion) during the fiscal period
running from July 2005 to June 2006, according to figures released by the
Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics on Wednesday.
Commodities that recorded the largest increases in export earnings during
the period were copper which jumped 79% to A$5.226 billion, iron ore and
pellets which rose 54% to A$12.511 billion, and coking coal which was up 59%
to A$17.076 billion. The copper export figure includes that of copper
concentrates and refined copper cathode.
The increases in the period mainly reflects substantial increases in
world prices for most major minerals and energy commodities, the bureau said.
