KFx Inc. changes name to Evergreen Energy

Sept. 26 --

Clean coal producer KFx Inc. will change its name to Evergreen Energy Inc. to better reflect the company´s strategy.

On Sept. 29, the Denver-based firm will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange´s Arca Exchange under the ticker symbol EEE. The company has been trading on the American Stock Exchange under KFX.

Evergreen Energy also made several management moves. It has named CEO Mark Sexton chairman of the board, replacing Ted Venners, who will remain chief technology officer and a director. Kevin Collins, executive vice president, will serve as chief operating officer. He replaces Robert Hanfling, who will remain president of the company. Richard Spencer, who has served as a director since 2002, will leave the board of directors at the end of September.

Evergreen Energy uses heat and pressure to convert high-moisture, low-British-thermal-unit coal, such as subbituminous and lignite, into a more efficient, cleaner-burning fuel. Its proprietary K-Fuel process removes impurities, including mercury, from coal and reduces carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.
