Pennsylvania is taking steps to make the development of landfill gas projects easier by making highway rights-of-way available for landfill gas pipelines.

The state departments of transportation and environmental protection are streamlining the permitting process of landfill gas pipeline projects

"Putting landfill gas to use to power our economy gives us a clean, cheap energy supply that businesses can use to keep utility costs down and keep jobs in Pennsylvania," state DEP Secretary Kathleen McGinty said.
