Ohio hazardous waste incinerator fined for violations

Dec. 4 -- Von Roll America Inc. will pay a penalty of $750,000 as part of an agreement with the federal government regarding alleged clean air and hazardous waste violation at the company´s East Liverpool, Ohio, hazardous waste incinerator.

The agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Justice also calls for a $34,000 project that will enhance environmental protection in and around East Liverpool, the EPA said.

The agreement resolves allegations that the company failed to properly operate, monitor and maintain its vapor collection and carbon absorption systems.
