BP, Edison Mission to launch a 500-MW alternative fuel plant
San Francisco (Platts)--10Feb2006
BP and Edison Mission Group Friday will unveil a 500-MW alternative
energy plant based in Carson, California, representatives for BP and Edison
International said late Thursday.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday will tour the site of
the proposed power project with Edison International CEO John Bryson, said a
spokesman for Edison International. Edison Mission Group is a subsidiary of
Edison International.
Press reports indicate the $1-bil project, to be built at a BP oil
refinery, would convert petroleum coke into a gas to be burned to generate
electricity.
A spokeswoman for BP declined to confirm that the new plant would produce
hydrogen, but the governor's daily calendar notes Schwarzenegger will tour the
site of a proposed hydrogen power plant on Friday.
