Calif. environmental managers say tobacco smoke is toxic pollutant

Feb. 16

A majority of environmental managers responding to a recent poll said that Californiaīs decision to list environmental tobacco smoke as a toxic air contaminant under state law was correct.

The poll, conducted on Enviro.BLR.com during the first seven days of February, asked environmental managers if they believed tobacco smoke should be regulated as a toxic air contaminant.

Of the 515 respondents, 75 percent responded affirmatively.

The poll was conducted in response to the California Air Resources Boardīs formal identification of secondhand smoke as a TAC.
