Report: U.S.-Canada hazardous waste market worth $3.5 billion

The hazardous waste market in the United States and Canada was valued at $3.5 billion in 2004, unchanged from 2003, a new study from Farkas Berkowitz & Co. reports.

"Hazardous Waste Industry Review 2004-2005" lists Clean Harbors Inc. of Braintree, Mass., as the top company in terms of revenue in 2004 at $643 million. That represents a 19 percent market share.

Another 16 companies had revenue ranging from $30 million to $500 million, the report states. And another 105 firms have revenue less than $30 million.
