June 30 --

Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. plans to open a superstore in a western suburb of Atlanta to sell household appliances that might otherwise go to waste, the company said June 29.

The 46,000-square-foot Lithia Springs, Ga., ApplianceSmart factory outlet superstore will be the company´s fourth in metropolitan Atlanta. ARCA also is opening another location in Stockbridge, Ga., a southeastern suburb of Atlanta. The two stores will be the 14th and 15th the company operates.

"ApplianceSmart has established a strong presence in Atlanta since first entering this major market only two years ago," said Jack Cameron, ARCA president and CEO. "We have accomplished this by offering customers an unprecedented selection of high-quality, discount-priced appliances."

Minneapolis-based ARCA´s ApplianceSmart stores offer special-buy household appliances, which include closeouts, factory overruns and scratch-and-dent units. ARCA also is one of the nation´s largest recyclers of major household appliances for electric utilities´ conservation programs.
