City of Napa, Calif., nets 179 tons in e-waste collection event

July 10 --

The city of Napa, Calif., has tabulated the amount of electronic waste collected during two events last month: 179 tons in two days.

The events, held June 9 and 10, accepted electronic waste from local residents and businesses. Napa Recycling & Waste Services handled collection and packaging of the materials, while Fresno, Calif.-based Electronic Recyclers handled the processing.

"We are thrilled with the success of this event and excited about forging this partnership with the city of Napa in general," said John Shegerian, president and CEO of Electronic Recyclers. "It is a true testament to the growing need for organized electronic waste drop-off sites around California, and the people of Napa have set the bar particularly high."
