Dear Editor, - A half truth. When reading the case for nuclear power which was made by Dr Paul Norman (Post, July 11) I note that, like MP David Miliband, he states that running a nuclear station emits no CO2 or other greenhouse gases.

In fact, as both men will surely know, the nuclear lifecycle, which includes the building of stations, the mining and processing of uranium and the decommissioning process, does emit both CO2 and greenhouse gases.

Research shows the effluent of the nuclear life-cycle to be lower than that of gas but higher than that of wind power generation.
