NHA Members named to Department of Energy's Hydrogen Technical
Advisory Council

Leaders from nine member companies of the National Hydrogen
Association (NHA) were named on June 20 as Secretary of Energy
Samuel W. Bodman announced the members of the Department of Energy's
new Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee (HTAC).
The nine representatives were selected from a group of over 100
nominees submitted to serve on HTAC, who represented all areas of
hydrogen industry and research and development. The Committee was
created in accordance with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to advise
the Secretary on issues related to the development of hydrogen and
fuel cell technologies. Under the Advanced Energy Initiative,
President Bush has requested $215 million for hydrogen research and
development in the 2007 budget to reduce American dependence on
foreign oil.
The representatives selected from NHA member companies to help
represent both technical and commercial areas of expertise include:
Larry Bawden, President & CEO Jadoo Power Systems; Mark Chernoby,
V.P., Advanced Vehicle Engineering, DaimlerChrysler; John
Hofmeister, President & U.S. Country Chair, Shell Oil Company; Art
Katsaros, Group V.P., Development & Technology, Air Products and
Chemicals; Dan Keuter, Vice President, Entergy Nuclear; Byron
McCormick, Executive Director of Fuel Cell Activities, General
Motors; Roger Saillant, President & CEO, Plug Power; Jan van Dokkum,
President, UTC Power; and Gregory Vesey, President, Chevron
Technology Ventures. These members will provide recommendations to
the Secretary upon DOEs programs, plans, and activities, as well as
safety, economic, and environmental issues related to hydrogen.
