Which football stadium has the largest PV-installation in all of Germany? In a startling upset, the clear favourite, Nuremberg, was surpassed by its strong foe Kaiserslautern in overtime.
At the beginning of the World Cup, the company Solar-Energiedach GmbH (German) snatched the title for the “Fritz-Walter Stadium” in Kaiserslautern with 230 kWp-strong PV-installation. This surprised Nuremberg, as the “easy-credit Stadium” was deemed the favourite with 140 kWp capacity from the company Iliotec Solar GmbH.
Outside of the arena, Solar-Energiedach GmbH will continue its momentum through the end of the year by expanding the capacity to 800 kWp. However, it has yet to be determined whether this stadium is also the victor in the battle for the most efficient PV-installation in the country.
