A new Government campaign is looking to raise the
public awareness of climate change, by backing a number of related projects
around the country. Fifty-three projects in England will receive a share of
£4.6m, it has been announced.
Recipient groups include the Scouts and the Women’s Institute, who will
develop ways to increase awareness amongst their members.
“Climate change affects all of us and I believe that today's successful
projects will reach new audiences and communities at national, regional and
local level and shift people's opinions in favour of action to tackle
climate change,” said Environment Secretary David Miliband.
“Government is playing its part and giving the lead in tackling climate
change. But we will not succeed without the support and active participation
of all sectors of society.”
