Michigan-based farm group plans to begin building corn ethanol and
biodiesel plants in Gratiot County this fall. A final site will be
selected in June from locations around mid-Michigan. Three sites in
Gratiot County stand out: a proposed energy research park in the Alma area

The Ethanol Producer informs that Advanced BioEnergy LLC acquired Indiana
Renewable Fuels of Rochester, Indiana. IRF plans to build a 100 MMgy
ethanol plant in Rochester. Advanced BioEnergy has already started
construction on a 100 MMgy ethanol plant near Fairmont, Nebraska (slated
to come online in 2007). Fagen Inc. will build both corn-fed plants using
ICM Inc. process technology. The site for the proposed Rochester facility
-- to be built by IRF -- is near a large landfill operated by Allied Waste
Industries, which IRF believes will provide methane gas to power the
plant.
Peoria, Illinois' Journal Star stated that plans to build a 200-million

the Illinois River may create about 70 new jobs and greatly multiply the
overall economic value generated by the approximately 250 million bushels
of corn produced in that eight-county area. ... The plant will purchase
about 36 million bushels of corn in its first phase of operation, and that
will double to 72 million after the second phase is completed.
