- US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice said in reference to Khameni's comments about possible serious consequences for oil supply in the event of a US led attack.

"One of my most important plans is to revolutionize the ministry in a way that it could hike up crude production first, for both local use and export, and second the refining capacity,"
- Iraq's new oil minister Hussain al-Shahristani said in reference to attempts to boost oil exports.
