The Swedish energy group Vattenfall said on Thursday (29 June) that the Swedish government has approved its plans to establish a large offshore wind farm at the Kriegers Flak shallow-water area in the southern Baltic Sea.

The wind farm project will generate 2.1 TWh per year. When fully developed the Kriegers Flak project will be one of the world's largest offshore wind farms.

Vattenfall has previously put a price tag of SEK8bn on the project.

One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
