US working gas in storage rises 80 Bcf to 2.243 Tcf: EIA

The US Energy Information Administration on Thursday reported a net
80-Bcf storage injection for the week ending May 26, raising nationwide
inventories to 2.243 Tcf.
Most observers had expected an injection between 82 Bcf and 87 Bcf
EIA reported 1.766 Tcf of working gas in inventory in the same week a
year ago. As a result, the surplus over the year-ago level slipped to 477 Bcf
from 484 Bcf a week ago, while the surplus over the five-year average of 1.537
Tcf dropped to 706 Bcf from 716 Bcf.
EIA posted a net injection last week of 50 Bcf in the East region,
bringing storage to 1.169 Tcf (850 Bcf a year ago), an injection of 15 Bcf in
the West region, to 306 Bcf (273 Bcf a year ago) and an injection of 15 Bcf in
the producing region, to 768 Bcf (643 Bcf a year ago).
In the East, inventories are now 400 Bcf above the five-year average,
while stocks are 68 Bcf above the average in the West and 238 Bcf above in the
producing region.
