Western states governors group calls for U.S. investment in green energy

The bipartisan Western Governors´ Association during its annual meeting approved a number of policies to ensure adequate energy supplies while addressing environmental concerns, including global warming.

The governors on June 11 approved a resolution calling on the United States to reduce its reliance on foreign oil supplies by supporting additional research and development of cleaner, alternative transportation fuels. In addition, the resolution called for further discussion on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation policies.

The Western Governors´ Association represents 18 states in the West as well as American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands
