Wisconsin ethanol
plant fined for Clean Water Act violations
June 22 --
Ace Ethanol LLC and John S. Olynick Inc. will pay $61,000 for alleged
federal Clean Water Act violations at the company´s Stanley, Wis.,
plant.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency alleges the companies filled
in 7,900 square feet of wetlands near the Stanley facility without
obtaining a permit. The wetlands are located next to a Wolf River
tributary.
The Clean Water Act requires companies to get a permit from the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers to fill in U.S. waters, including wetlands such
as marshes, bogs and swamps.
