Green groups sue President Bush over climate change

Nov. 17 --

Conservation groups have filed a federal lawsuit against the Bush administration for refusing to complete a national assessment of global warming´s impact on the U.S. environment, economy and human health.

The report is required by the Global Change Research Act of 1990 and was due in November 2004, according to the complaint filed by Greenpeace, the Center for Biological Diversity and Friends of the Earth. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco.

"This administration has denied and suppressed the science of global warming at every turn," said Julie Teel, an attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity.
