Nov 08, 2006 -- BUSINESS WIRE

The Clean and Safe Energy Coalition - CASEnergy - a national grassroots organization of more than 600 members, is bringing the case for America's energy future to Michigan. CASEnergy will be introduced to Michigan on November 10, 2006 at the Detroit Athletic Club in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Patrick Moore, CASEnergy national co-chair and a co-founder and former leader of Greenpeace will announce the launch of CASEnergy in Detroit alongside state coalition members and nuclear energy supporters. Michigan coalition members currently include the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, DTE Energy, the Michigan Grocers Association, as well as State Senators and Representatives.

National members of the Coalition include businesses, health organizations, labor unions, universities, consumer groups and prominent community leaders and individuals. With energy prices rising and the growing need for clean, safe and reliable sources of electricity, CASEnergy was formed to educate the public about the benefits of nuclear energy. Michigan is part of the United States' East North Central power grid that is projected to require 16% more electricity by 2030 to meet increasing demand. Members of CASEnergy believe that nuclear energy needs to be an important part of meeting that demand.
