Russia is planning to take part in a tender to build nuclear power plants in Egypt, said Boris Alyoshin, head of the Federal Industry Agency (Rosprom).

"We will definitely take part in the tender. I think we have a pretty good chance of winning," he told reporters after Russian- Egyptian talks on Thursday in the Kremlin.

Egypt announced in September that it was restarting a world nuclear program and will built four large nuclear plants, Alyoshin said.

The Egyptian president said that a tender would definitely be held to select a company to build the nuclear plants, Alyoshin said.

In answer to a question on how security would be provided for the nuclear plants in Egypt, Alyoshin said that "each party will resolve this problem in accordance with its own doctrine of economy and security."

"I'm confident that the conditions that will be presented at the tender will contain all the necessary elements connected with safety," Alyoshin said.
