Southern Belgium to get new biomass-fired 3.29-MW CHP July 2008

Brussels (Platts)--25Apr2007

Southern Belgium is to have a new biomass-fired combined heat and power
plant with a net power output of 3.29 MW due online in July 2008, contractor
Wartsila Corporation said Wednesday.

Belgian independent power producer Renogen has contracted Wartsila to
build the plant in Amel, in the Ardennes region of southern Belgium.

The new plant will have a thermal output of up to 10 MW for district
heating, said Wartsila, and deliver hot water to local industrial businesses.

The power generated is to be fed to the local grid, and is to be eligible
for the carbon emission credits (green certificates) applicable in the Belgian
Wallonia province. The plant is to burn non-contaminated wood residues
supplied by the local forestry industry.
