Lawmakers are running on green energy in Boston
Denver, CO - August 7, 2007 - (News Release)
Lawmakers are taking time to speak on panel discussions, network ideas, and learn more about the environmental benefits of using green energy. "We know what type of environmental impact these additional people can have on the city of Boston," said NCSL's executive director Bill Pound. "We are trying to be environmentally conscious by taking the needs of our members and the environment into consideration." Constellation NewEnergy is working with the BCEC to offset its electricity consumption. Constellation NewEnergy will buy 5,000 kilowatt hours of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The RECs will be Green-e Certified wind. These purchases will help offset electricity usage from traditional fuel sources with clean, renewable energy. "We are proud to support NCSL's sustainable environmental efforts by securing clean and renewable energy to offset electricity usage for their upcoming convention at the Boston Convention and Events Center," said Carrie Cullen Hitt, Vice President of Product Management - Renewable Products for Constellation NewEnergy. "NCSL's environmental leadership sets a powerful example, which is very much aligned with Constellation NewEnergy's commitment to offer innovative green energy products and solutions to our customers across North America." With the kickoff of the 2007 annual meeting in Boston, NCSL is launching a five year program to making its annual meetings more environmentally friendly, when playing host in cities across the country. In 2008, NCSL will be in New Orleans. NCSL is the bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staff of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
