Geothermal energy is still in its infancy in Australia, however interest in the renewable energy source is growing. Geodynamics, Panax Geothermal and Petratherm are leading the way in Australia, and are hopeful that the hot rock technology will be a success. Origin Energy is a keen speculator on the technology, and holds a 30 per cent stake in Geodynamics. Geodynamics has encountered problems with its drilling techniques, however Origin says the company should not be judged on a single trial. More geothermal groups are expected to float in 2008.
