India building two reprocessing plants

London (Platts)--12Jun2007
India is constructing two more reprocessing plants in addition to the
three already operating at Tarapur, Kalpakkam and Trombay, S. K. Munshi, chief
superintendent of reprocessing facilities at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center
at Trombay, said June 12.
In an interview following a talk given at the IBC Global Conferences'
radioactive waste management conference in London, he said two new plants were
being built at Tarapur and Kalpakkam which should start operating within the
next few years. "Reprocessing is a must to meet our closed nuclear fuel cycle
program," Munshi said.
